I am inviting applications from Criminal Duty Solicitors for my client in East London.  Covering duty slots from the next rota (from October 2021) the successful candidate must be within the required travelling distance of

  • Newham
  • Old Street
  • Redbridge
  • Thames
  • Thames Court and Newham Youth Court
  • Waltham Forest
Responsibilities

As an experienced Criminal Duty Solicitor, you will be responsible for:

  • Representing clients detained at police stations
  • Attending police stations
  • Magistrates’, Youth and Crown Court cases
  • Appeals
  • Bail applications
  • Drafting instructions to counsel and expert witnesses
Qualifications

For applications to be successful they need to demonstrate the following qualifications and experience:

  • Solicitors with at least 2 years’ PQE
  • Solid experience in criminal defence matters
  • Crime duty accreditation is essential
  • Excellent communication and client care skills will be crucial
  • Able to manage a demanding caseload, with minimal supervision
  • A pragmatic, professional and positive approach is required for this role
Job Benefits

In return, you can expect a salary of circa £35-45,000 (depending on experience), call outs, and a range of benefits.
