You really need to understand their culture and business goals and whether it aligns with your career aspirations.

Once you are sure that the firm is for you then you need to ensure your CV stands you out from the crowd. A tailored CV is essential to spell out to the prospective employer why you warrant an interview. You should not expect the reader to read between the lines and make assumptions on your suitability.
